Stories

Therapy takes work, reflection, and a solid partnership between you and your therapist.

Here are a few stories from clients that have worked with Nancy.

Clarity, empowerment, and compassion are the three main gifts that Nancy gave my fiancé and I when we sought her counsel. She helped us understand and resolve issues that we had both individually and as a couple with insight and kindness. I believe that her approach is uplifting because it is more about embracing the whole person rather than pointing fingers, placing blame, and trying to suppress certain aspects of ourselves. As a result, guilt and defensiveness fades, and you are free to learn and grow in a more constructive state of mind. I feel more hopeful than I have in years, both for my own future and that of my relationship.

“Like many people (I am assuming), my first call to Nancy began in a moment of crisis.
Not being sure where else to turn, I had shared my troubling situation with a good friend at work, and in response he told me about Nancy.  He went on to explain that he and his wife had been to see Nancy prior to being married, and had nothing but great things to say about her.  I jumped at the opportunity of having a name and phone number of someone worth seeing…  (Having a huge list of “approved providers” from one’s insurance company is little consolation to someone in desperate need of real help.)  Being someone who has struggled through a few disappointing psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists – I can only say that Nancy is EXACTLY the person I was looking for, and I would recommend her to anyone.
I knew she was different from the very beginning.  It is very clear from the first meeting that Nancy is the type of therapist who will allow you to get out of therapy whatever you are willing to put into it.  This is NOT necessarily the case with other therapists/doctors in the area.  Nancy’s accessibility: her calm, thoughtful nature; her intelligence; her comfortable, home-y office; her attitude in general – make her more effective and easy-to-approach than any therapist I’ve ever met.
Other people have commented on this, but meeting Nancy is unique in that you immediately get the sense that you are meeting someone who is doing *exactly* what they are supposed to be doing.  She is a natural.  She can help you achieve anything you are willing to work for.”

“The time I spend with Nancy provides me with a safe environment where I can honestly react to events in my life, consider how I feel and want to respond. I now make more decisions based on what is healthy for me rather than what others expect.”

“I came to therapy feeling like many of my troubles were insurmountable. I felt like my problems and childhood pain were bigger than me and that I might never experience true reprieve. Nancy was so amazing at combating my hopelessness, right from the beginning and helped me face these things with honesty and courage. After seeing Nancy, I have a different outlook and am feeling so much better. The best way to describe it is that I feel comfortable in my own skin.”

“Therapy was a great investment. The time I spent with Nancy has helped me to live a better life in so many ways. I have gained a great deal of clarity about myself, my family and my work, virtually all my relationships have been transformed, with most of them becoming much richer and more meaningful. I trust more in my own judgment and have been freed from much needless anxiety (phew…).

“I have come to think of therapy as good self-care. It has improved my health and well being in a very substantial way. I was suffering when I arrived to Nancy’s office and she helped me untangle, put into perspective, manage and understand many very complex emotions and situations that life tends to bring. Her objectivity and kindness have helped me to grow emotionally and spiritually and I now enjoy a much higher level of peacefulness and creativity. In short, the investment in therapy was an investment in a more meaningful and satisfying way of life, and not only for me but for my family and friends as well – because I’m easier to live with.”

“Nancy Sparrow is worth her weight in gold. She is a very gifted professional, compassionate and insightful. I recommended Nancy to my sister (among at least a dozen others) and after a few weeks of therapy, I asked her how it was going and she replied “Great… really great – everyone should have a Nancy!” I would heartily agree.”

“Simply put, Nancy Sparrow just gets it!  She has a solid foundation of knowledge and experience that has guided me through some of life’s toughest challenges.  Her deep spirituality gives way to a profound wisdom across all faiths and denominations. I have experienced numerous examples of how Nancy genuinely cares about her patients.  Her intervention does not end when the session is over.  For example, she has sent me texts of concern and encouragement when she knows I have a tough event to get through.  A few times she has emailed me book recommendations if she reads something that she feels might relate to me.  She has even made a “house call” by coming to my home before I moved to help me with closure.  She has facilitated me to adjust to and even embrace life altering changes. She is an exceptional therapist who is highly skilled and accomplished.  But most importantly, she has an intuition that is truly a gift which lends to a mindful prospective that remains with me when I leave our sessions.  Again…Nancy Sparrow just gets it!”
